Hello there!
If you are reading this, you’ve stumbled into the Blogs Corner, just one of the little spaces at Indraprastha that exists because we love doing things differently. And trust us, this is just the beginning. What began as just another conference somehow grew into something way bigger, a place where debates turned into friendships, late-night planning meets turned into memories, and a splash of lavender became our whole identity!
You must have heard a common phrase,
Rome wasn’t built in a day
Similarly, our conference too took its time to stand where it does today. Over time, we stopped being just a conference and started becoming a community, or as we say it, a lavender cult. This blog will walk you through the story of Indraprastha, how we became what we are, and relive how one person’s vision turned into a big and strangely loveable family we are today:)
How it started
Like every cult, ours too had a visionary, Krishna Thakur, our founding president. Unfortunately, like many great origin stories, his too begins with disappointment.
Like many of us, he found himself at a conference that promised the world, but delivered, well lets just say not exactly that! You know what we’re talking about, no value for delegate experience, an event organized just for the surplus, with no regard toward instilling the values and learning that an MUN stands for. For him, this wasn’t just a “meh” experience, it was a turning point.
Instead of laughing it off or quitting the MUN world, he pondered, what if we brought the quality back? What if a delegate walks into a conference venue and actually feels welcomed, heard and excited to be there? What if the entire experience, from the first gavel to the last round of applause, and everything in between, actually meant something and held a special place in their hearts?
That’s the seed from which Indraprastha grew. And by 2023, after two tries and a whole lot of learning, our first proper conference finally happened. I guess every masterpiece does take time!. And when it happened, delegates felt the difference. It wasn’t just about motions and crises anymore; it was about community, about making space for both fiery debate and late-night laughter. That’s when people stopped seeing Indraprastha as just a conference, and became something they’d actually want to return to.
Impact after the first chapter!
The first edition in 2023 established us as a quality conference, one that earned delegate’s trust and showed we were serious about creating something different. In the world of autocratic and dictatorial conferences that only cared about their treasure chests and fame, Indraprastha was a conference that was
for the delegates, of the delegates, and by the delegates.
And once that foundation was laid, the second edition was our chance to aim even higher.
The second chapter: an unbeatable milestone?
The second edition took everything up a notch, and added a personal touch. Our team literally sat down and made 1,000 bracelets, bead by bead, stayed up late into the night in decor meetings, and crafted what felt like a fairy-tale ending for every delegate. The executive board was nothing short of A+, delivering smooth committees while keeping the warmth and energy alive. On top of carrying forward the best-delegate-experience legacy of the first edition, this time we added a touch of home, a sense of personalization that made every delegate feel seen, celebrated, and part of something truly special.
Pulling off an event this special was not easy, nor is it something any team can execute. Our team of devoted Taylor Swift fans never said no to an urgent midnight ideation meeting, nor did we have a dearth of people when we had to spend the entirety of our days at the conference venue a week before the conference. Of course, there was the incentive of going to have momos everyday after work, which got turned into a whole side quest as we crossed a railway bridge to avoid paying for autos, but that’s just how we roll:)
Staying at the venue till 11 pm the night before the conference, climbing chairs, ladders or even each other’s shoulders to pull off the exact decorations we had envisioned, the team really proved that Indraprastha matters as much to them as it does to Krishna sir!
The aura of our conference owes itself to the khel khel mein, khushi khushi se spirit of our team, we literally danced our way through the stage set up of the closing ceremony; made reels on kaali activa, decorated each other’s clothes and faces with stickers, all while pulling off the most successful conference to ever exist!
Last but not the least, the socials were unforgettable; ending in literal fireworks in the sky to celebrate our dear president, everyone grooved together to the beats of Taylor Swift and Diljit Dosanjh, creating memories that lingered long after the gavel came down.
The Indraprastha Collaborative: Our extended family
Indraprastha isn’t just about our own flagship conferences, it is about creating an extended family, and that is where the Indraprastha Collaborative comes in. Through this initiative, we help schools organize their own MUNs, sharing our experience, guidance, and love for debate. It’s part of a bigger vision: to equip school children with skills, confidence, and the excitement of diplomacy, while making them feel like they’re part of the Indraprastha community from the very start. And it works, because once a school joins the collaborative, they don’t just attend once; they always come back for more, becoming a part of the growing Indraprastha family.
From having a killer closing ceremony at Gyan Bharati MUN, to electrifying socials and Mayur Public and St. Froebel’s, and not to forget the special bookmarks our team sat and ideated upon at 1 am 2 days before St. Froebel’s MUN, all only to create a unique delegate experience, we scream unique!
The upcoming chapter: Showstopper!
And now, all eyes are on the third chapter. As Krishna Thakur once said,
“Only Indraprastha’s next edition can compete with Indraprastha.”
That’s the standard we’re holding ourselves to, pushing boundaries, raising the bar, and aiming to outdo even our own legacy. If the past editions were about building trust, quality, and a sense of home, this one is about taking it all to the next level.
We’re not just focusing on committees and debates, but planning social events designed to strengthen our community even more, giving delegates spaces to connect, laugh, and create memories together.
On top of that, this edition introduces our MUNifesto initiative, offering free-of-cost training to schools, bringing more students into the Indraprastha family, and giving them the tools to shine in diplomacy.
And, true to our flair, we announced the conference with a filmy, larger-than-life prelude event that left everyone buzzing with excitement. This edition is set to keep the spirit alive and prove once again that Indraprastha isn’t just a conference, it’s a movement that keeps growing, evolving, and surprising everyone who’s a part of it.
SEE YOU ON THE 8TH-9TH OF NOVEMBER 2025!!
